Treatment Descriptions

Therapeutic Massage:

Includes Swedish Massage, which relaxes the body and improves circulation, and Neuromuscular Therapy.

Neuromuscular Therapy:

Identifies and releases chronically shortened muscles and trigger points that cause pain and limitation. Using a variety of massage, muscle energy and stretching techniques, the therapist helps release patterns of pain -- due to injury, repetitive stress or poor posture -- and re-educate the neuromuscular pathways to restore normal mobility.

Cupping Therapy:

Creates a vacuum to draw out stagnation and toxins and promote the free flow of blood and energy in the body. Cupping therapy has been used for centuries and is well-documented by the Egyptians, Chinese and Greeks to alleviate a variety of ailments. It relaxes muscles and tissues, increases range of motion, improves metabolic processes, reduces joint pain and heals scar tissue. Cupping also can help with digestive disorders, painful menstruation, fatigue, injuries and arthritis pain.

Craniosacral Therapy (CST):

A light touch technique performed with the client fully clothed Following the flow of the cerebrospinal fluid, the therapist listens for restrictions in and around the central nervous system and gently releases them, allowing the body to return to a balanced state.  CST is a deeply relaxing therapy and can help relieve chronic neck and back pain, headaches, anxiety, unexplained pain syndromes and dizziness, chronic fatigue and brain traumas. It also can ease symptoms associated with PTSD, autism spectrum disorders, Parkinson’s Disease and other degenerative diseases of the nervous system.

Lymphatic Drainage Therapy (LDT):

Because the lymphatic system is the main pathway for draining metabolic wastes and environmental toxins from the body, it is important to keep the lymphatic vessels free of congestion. LDT practitioners simulate gentle, wave-like movements to activate lymph circulation and improve functioning of the immune and parasympathetic nervous systems. Benefits of LDT include relief from pain and inflammation detoxification of the body; improved surgical outcomes (pre- and post-surgery); reduced symptoms of chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia; regeneration of tissue, including burns, wounds and wrinkles; deep relaxation and illness prevention and recovery (LDT is not recommended during acute infection).

Visceral Manipulation (VM):

A gentle therapy that releases fascial restrictions in the abdominal area to encourage the normal movement and function of your internal organs. Fascia is the soft component of the connective tissue system and envelopes everything in the body; therefore, fascial restrictions around the organs may show up as chronic musculoskeletal disorders, such as pain and limitation in the shoulders and lower back. VM also may help improve digestion, sleep patterns, hormone balance, headaches, sinus symptoms, fatigue and pain related to post-operative scar tissue.

Manual and Movement Therapy

Manual and movement therapy combines bodywork and some form of fitness training to optimize results and help maintain the benefits of each practice. Here,  we combine bodywork and yoga. Each compliments the other: Massage alone can help relieve musculoskeletal pain, but often the benefits last only a few days due to postural or repetitive stress habits.  By adding in movement therapy – in this case, a short, customized yoga practice, we add stretching and strengthening into the mix. While yoga helps maintain the benefits of bodywork, bodywork also can help you move deeper into your yoga practice.

The initial manual and movement therapy protocol includes one 90-minute assessment massage, followed one week later with a 60-minute massage and a 30-minute yoga training. After these first two sessions, subsequent sessions can be scheduled as needed.

Manual and Movement Therapy

First two visits: $235 (includes one 90 minute massage, one 60-minute massage and

one 30-minute customized yoga training session)

Subsequent visits: $100 (includes 60-minute massage, followed by 30-minute yoga training)

In many cases, the roots of tension lie beyond the musculoskeletal system. These restrictions may be organ-related, in the lymphatic system or deeper in the central nervous system. They may even stem from mental or emotional tension. Such issues may benefit from lighter touch therapies like Craniosacral Therapy, Lymphatic Drainage Therapy and Visceral Manipulation. Though gentle, these therapies can support deep healing.
